Where to use

Structural elements

The applications and possibilities of geotextile elements are legion and still in full development. Originally they were developed to act, filled with sand, as erosion protection in coastal works or as the core of a breakwater or dike.

Nowadays, such elements are often used as foreshore defence in lakes, canals and waterways. The tubes are filled with dredged sludge from the working area and covered, so that over time they will completely be absorbed into the environment by vegetation.

The filled elements, also known as dredging tubes, are excellent for use as a construction element due to their robustness and durability, for example as bank protection, for land reclamation, the construction of dams and dikes, the creation of islands in nature reserves, etc. Because they usually can be filled with materials such as sand, dredging or clay, which can be extracted directly from the working area, this also ensures very low CO2 emissions.

Dewatering

A very successful application is the dewatering of dredged sludge. In the traditional method of dredging, the sludge is stored in a depot, often a piece of land, surrounded with dikes. There the sludge has to mature for a long time, usually longer than a year, before it can be removed. By using geotextile dewatering sausages this time is reduced to just a few days or weeks! In addition, this method also takes up much less space, making it extremely suitable for use in urban or industrial areas.
