Woven Polyester Geogrids

The Geopex Polyester woven geogrids represent a highly specialized combination of PVC-coated polyester yarn with a high modulus and an advanced weaving technique, which gives them the following properties:



Tensile Strength

High stiffness due to high strength with low elongation. Tensile strengths up to approximately 400 kN/m¹ are possible



Durability

Polyester (PES) is a very resistant and stable polymer. Combined with the advanced weaving technique, this results in a fabric with excellent properties regarding creep, mechanical damage, UV stability and chemical and biological attacks.



Friction

The large mesh will create a very good bonding between the geogrid and the coarse filling material. This is known as interlocking.



Flexible

The use of polyester multifilament yarns makes the product very flexible and easy to process.

Areas of application

Due to their stiffness, Geopex PES reinforcement grids are ideally suited as soil reinforcement in various application areas.

Retaining walls

To withstand the pressure of soil and water, retaining walls are traditionally made of concrete or masonry.

PES geogrids can be used to create retaining wall constructions, without load-bearing outer surface. The shielding of the outside only has a protective or aesthetic function and can therefore consist of concrete slabs, natural stone or wooden panels.

The geogrid can also be used in combination with vegetation mats to create green walls

Steep slopes

The use of geogrids gives you the opportunity to create steeper slopes.

Due to their open structure, geogrids are very suitable for creating slopes with nature-friendly vegetation.

Roads and railways

Geopex PES reinforcement grids are mainly used to improve the load-bearing properties of the structure, mainly reducing settlement due to traffic loads, etc. Great advantage can be achieved when high strength is required on a soft surface. In that case, the geogrids will be used to either save on the foundation thickness or to extend the lifespan of the structure. PES Geogrids also offer a good solution for local settlement differences, including road widening on a soft surface.

Installation

Geopex PES geogrids can be used with the most common fill materials. To ensure optimum interaction between the grid and the ballast material, the ratio between the grid mesh size and the grain size will correspond to:

Minimum cross-section of meshes
———————————————————— = between 2 and 3.5
D50, average grain size

The geogrids can be cut to length in advance with a sharp knife or scissors.

Specifications and design parameters such as reduction factors are available on request.
